SYNOPSIS

Hyun-woo is a weather reporter known for her stunning looks and class on television. In real life, however, she’s a boozehound who can shatter any and all preconceived notions of her in the blink of an eye. Dong-jin is the cold, married producer Hyun-woo loves. Hyo-bong is a sincere but dull photographer that goes on a blind date with Hyun-woo. At the center of it all is her childhood friend and schoolteacher Jun-su, whose deep and long simmering love for Hyun-woo leads him down some ridiculous paths. Soon Hyun-woo is forced to leave the city and sets out on a trip designed to help her sort out her true feelings for the three men. Will Dong-jin choose to maintain his perfect façade? Can Hyo-bong’s sweet nature win her over for good? Is it the end for Jun-su and Hyun-woo? Who will she go back to? [KoBiz]

IN SHORT

It's all relative, I suppose. To me, a supposedly talented director like Park Jin-Pyo, the same guy who helmed eclectic and original works like 너는 내 운명 (You're My Sunshine!) and 죽어도 좋아! (Too Young to Die), shouldn't even bother at this point of his career with fluffy, empty star vehicles that the majors (CJ, in this case) usually throw at first timers crossing over from the world of music videos or commercials. To Park himself, it might just be an easy paycheck in an era where the director is becoming less and less important – after all, it's not like his last film 내사랑 내 곁에 (Closer to Heaven) was anything more than an overwrought tearjerker.

To me, someone with evident potential like Moon Chae-Won should attempt to find more challenging roles – because after three homeruns in a row going from 공주의 남자 (The Princess' Man) all the way to 세상 어디에도 없는 착한남자 (The Innocent Man), you would have expected her to up the ante and maybe do something a little riskier. To her, a film whose sole mission seems to be that of making you look cute and sweet (and it does that rather effectively) while pairing you with one of the hottest stars on TV might not seem like such a bad deal.

To Lee Seung-Gi, who has yet to prove he's anything more than a pretty face with an endearing attitude that is tailor made for variety, starting his movie career with something safe like a lighthearted romcom was probably his best bet. What if he chose something that deviated too wildly from his established image and ruined everything he built throughout the years with his variety and drama roles? To me it's just further proof that he doesn't have what it takes to make that extra step, and become a real actor.

I can understand Lee Seung-Gi, even Moon Chae-Won. But Park Jin-Pyo directing a soulless exercise in star posturing, whose script feels like a random collection of post-its taken from variety TV moments, and that “borrows” liberally from dozens of genre offerings without shame?

Well, forecast says cloudy. Without any chance of meatballs, but possibly metric loads of cheese. Relatively, anyway.
