SYNOPSIS

A successful female marketer of the #1 toy company in Korea opens her eyes to the world of ‘real’ joy with the help of her neighbor who runs an adult toy shop, CASA AMOR. Now she bursts out ideas as a marketer to promote adult toys instead of children’s. [KoBiz]

IN SHORT

Jung Beom-Shik of 기담 (Epitaph) is the kind of promising director who still hasn’t made a great film, quite an unenviable track record that often comes back to haunt him. While it’s still a breath of fresh air compared to the dozens of formulaic made-for-IPTV skin flicks that plague Korean theaters, it has a few great ideas and the casting is spot-on (all the way to Clara taking advantage of her bimbo persona not without a few winks here and there), we’re still far from that elusive total package. After a very inventive and zany first act and a passable (if convoluted) second, the film loses steam in clouds of old school patriarchal familyism (at least until that final call) and is way too eager to wrap up things with a conservative message – a bit of disappointment knowing Jung’s usual verve. As an erotic comedy it doesn’t really work or deliver (and its pandering to the IPTV horney enthusiast in the Uncut version is a little bit annoying), but it has a few great gags and the cast has fine chemistry. Decent stuff.
