SYNOPSIS

Gong Su-Rae (Yoon Son Ha) only loves her husband, Seo Bong-Guk (Yoon Hee Suk) since she met him in her teen-ages. She then learns that her husband is having an affair with Choi Yi-Gyeong (Park Tam Hee). Park Chan-Woo (Seo Do Young) plays a man who supports her. [Soompi]

IN SHORT

I recall an interview with Jackie Chan where he explained his modus operandi – which was likely the blueprint for most Hong Kong action films of the period. He’d devise a few big action scenes around which the film revolved, and then make up tidbits of storytelling that would quickly get him to the real selling point, his action stunts. Most of the time this storytelling would be simplistic, barebones narrative with no frills and tons of stereotypes since people accepted (perhaps even demanded) that his films would be nothing more than escapist entertainment. Think of the current daily drama canon as something like the HK action films of the 80s: you get a few moments of flamboyant histrionics around which revolves a collection of clichés (in this case the ever loving goody-two-shoe wife who gets betrayed by the bored alpha male husband thanks to the elegant charms of his newfound belle), criminally obvious PPL (which at this point even dictates the flow of minor plot developments, like a trip to a posh resort) and the usual dumbfounding coincidences. I could even accept all that if there was “action” that lives up to Jackie Chan. But I’m afraid Park Tam-Hee and Yoon Hee-Seok aren’t good enough for that.
