FIRST LOOK

Wow… That is a lot of nondescript, random genre-blending. I can understand throwing YA clichés in the mix by aping elements from the Twilight saga, or trying to replicate the visual “luster” of 뱀파이어 검사 (Vampire Prosecutor) – not exactly something I'd try to emulate, but guyliner and masturbatory action shot CF style seems to be enough for the easily pleased. But for Park Jae-Beom and Gi Min-Soo, who worked together in 굿닥터 (Good Doctor), we also needed to throw in a few facile conventions from the medical canon, lest people could get bored and let their minds wander wondering what one genre done well could look like. That's when you add into the mix horrible CG, and hilarity ensues – the composition on those wolves was so hilarious I thought this was turning into a comedy, then you see Gu Hye-Seon playing an ajumma from a weekend makjang while wearing a gown and realize it's an unintentional tragedy. That Ahn Jae-Hyun is nowhere near ready to lead a drama is painfully obvious by the time he looks vapidly into the camera lenses and tries to look cool with the poise of someone who woke up twenty minutes earlier and had no coffee. But, honestly? It's the least of this mess' problems. How about finding an identity and sticking to it?
